Well, the honesty itch got the better of me. I decided I should let them know my situation, but that I would be back in 7 months, that I would love to start now and be prepared for returning in 7 months. Unfortunately, they said I should check back in 7 months. She sincerely thanked me for my honesty and told me it would take me a long way. And as much as I know that is true…here I sit…jobless for the next month and a half. Sometimes it is hard to know if I made the right decision or not, but I know the time will fly and I will eventually get the experience I need. For now, I'm going to try the volunteer route which should be great this time of year!
I was so excited about this job, and it felt good so of course I am sad to not be starting, but I’m trying to keep a positive outlook on the whole situation. One good thing is that I don’t have to carry the burden of giving my notice after only 2-3 weeks of working. Another good thing is that the hospital in Texas that I am looking at is part of the same organization as this one making the return from Texas an easy transition! Another good thing to remember is that my would-have-been boss has guaranteed me a job when I return.
Luckily I had a lot of great distractions this weekend! Just a few hours after my little crying pity party a friend from church and I went out to lunch. She'll probably never really know how much I needed that. Plus, the restaurant was RIGHT on the absolutely breathtaking beaches of
Destin! These beaches could make you forget just about everything!Next, Friday night, we had a couple Dan has met through work over for Dinner. They are our age and don't have kids and we have just clicked with them since we moved here. They brought over guitar hero and we had a blast! Who knew playing with what looks like a 5-year olds musical toy could be so FUN!
These same friends invited us to join them the next morning for an Air Show in Pensacola. I didn't know it, but the Navy base in Pensacola is the home base for the Blue Angels. The show was absolutely amazing and frightening all at once. I've never seen an air show. My favorites were the F-15's (which was their last air show ever, I guess), the "WALL-OF-FIRE" (which I didn't know was coming when it started and I just about hit the deck when it happened), and of course the Blue Angels. We got home that night half deaf, but happy!
I won't taint this post with another Nursery Nightmare, but the wonderful part about yesterday was that at our stake center at church, they broadcast the re-dedication of the Mexico City, Mexico temple. It was beautiful! The speakers and the spirit were so special. Everything was in Spanish so Dan got to translate for me. I love the temple and I miss being so close to it. The closest temple to us is now over 5 hours away, opposed to 40 minutes. I've been going through withdrawals, but last night made me feel like I was there again, and I was thankful for that!
Well, this post was much longer than I had planned it all just came out. Needless to say I feel much better and I am looking forward to what the next few months bring!

So sorry your job isn't going to happen! I admire all the wives that completely upturn their lives in order to support and encourage their husbands! It's really hard for me to meet new people and establish that group of friends you look to for support. We were in Cleveland for 3 years and I finally was feeling like we had a home, a group of friends, were well known in the Ward, and then we had to leave it all behind. Now we're in California starting over and it's really hard for me! I had job opportunities in Cleveland, but I had to turn it down to come here! What keeps me going is knowing that this is a way to start over and try something new! I always look forward to that chance! I hope all will will be well for you in your new place! Stay optimistic!
Sorry about the job disappointment, but like you said, now you can focus on some others ways to give of yourself. And you won't have to worry about working on the upcoming holidays!
Oh, that's got to be tough! I'm so sorry you had to give up the job. But good for you on making the hard but right decision. You set a great example for all of us to be honest and think of how our decisions effect others.
You never know, could turn out to be the best thing that could have happened... these little hitches in our plans tend to work out that way, don't they?
I'm sorry Tina. You did the right thing though, and it sounds like you'll now have a job to come back to, rather then if you had started working and then given notice, they probably wouldn't have been too happy. I know you are anxious to get started, but like you said you can volunteer and just try to enjoy having some more time off, because once you start working and have a family, you'll never have time like this again. I'm glad you guys are making friends down there and am jealous of the beautiful weather and beaches...:)
Hmmm... working is no fun anyways... (I mean shoot, I've been doing it for the last 3 years and I want to go back to school ^^) Sounds like you have everything all set up to work out in the end. Texas... job training? Then back to florida? I missed out on something here. Last time I talked to Dan (guess its been a while, he was planing on being an eye doctor or something like that... but I figured from him doing the spanish and political sience? (not really sure if thats right either) he must be doing something else. Oh yeah and Guitar Hero is all good ^^ But Chris has no rythm so those games are way too hard for him ~~;;
I wish I knew your story a day earlier. I taught the beehives a lesson on honesty yesterday and that would have been a great example to share! I'm sure you'll get lots of blessings and things will work out! In the meantime you'll just have to hang out at the beach!
Sorry you have to move so soon. I feel you pain. Just think, without the job you can blog and cook all day long. Oooh, goodie.
Love your stinking honesty!
P.S. I tagged you on my blog.
I'm so sorry about the job! At least you know honesty is a great quality to have. It looks like you are having a good time in Florida right now. Look at all the fun things you guys are doing. I'm so glad we're blog friends now and I can catch up with your life! I'm sure it will all work out in Texas.
