I Made it Monday: Conh Chowdah (Corn Chowder)

Last week Dan and I decided to make a last minute road trip for thanksgiving. When making dinner, I decided I should use up the random things in my kitchen that needed to be used up. I had one Italian sausage, some carrots, celery, heavy whipping cream, and already opened canned corn that needed to be used up. SO, I got brave and decided to make my own recipe! I had heard chowder being made with heavy whipping cream so I thought I'd give it a try. I was quite proud of the results and especially since I came up with the recipe myself. Dan loved it too!

Conh Chowdah (Corn Chowder)
1 onion
2 carrots
2 celery
2 potatoes
1 can of corn
1 Italian sausage
Basil to taste
Crushed red pepper to taste
Salt & Pepper to taste
Heavy whipping cream
Chicken broth from 1 bouillon

I started by dicing and slicing everything in my PowerPro Food processor (I have really come to appreciate it when I have a lot of cutting and don't care how it looks) such as the onion, carrots, celery, and potatoes. Next, I started making some chicken broth from a boullion cube. While that was getting to a boil, I cut and started cooking the Italian sausage in a pan and added the onions. When that was done, I added all my cut veggies and meat in a pot along with the broth. I mixed it up and added Heavy whipping cream until I thought it looked good. Then I let it cook for a while and mixed in different spices such as basil, crushed red pepper, and S&P. It made about 4 bowls of chowder. It turned out really great! AND SO warm and yummy on a cool day.

This looks really tasty! I think I'm actually going to make this tonight. Except the whipping cream part, since I don't have it. I'll have to improvise. And the Italian sausage. Do you think Polish sausage will work? Hm... well, we'll see how it turns out. :o)
